My Experience With Ecoflow Delta 2 Power Station

We ran several tests to use the Delta2 to test its performance. We chose appliances commonly used by caravanners and campers who are full-time on the road. We ran an air fryer, our Thermomix and the modem from Starlink. All three are hungry for power, so the testing was deliberate to see how the Delta2 performs.

1. Breville Air Fryer

With the Delta2 fully charged to 100%, I cooked a roast dinner in the air fryer. The chicken was around 1.2 kg, accompanied by roast vegetables. As expected, the power surged until the air fryer reached 220℃. The draw fluctuated between 1391 watts, dropping back to 864 watts once the air fryer reached temperature.

The food was cooked for 30 minutes at 220℃ and then 40 minutes at 180℃. At the end of the cooking time, the battery had 26% left.

2. Thermomix

For the test in the Thermomix, I cooked a recipe that would need power for preparation and cooking. The Garlic Prawn dish prep and cooking time was 30 minutes.

We started where we left off, with 26% left in the battery. The initial current draw when heating up to the cooking temperature was 451 watts. After cooking, the battery was finished with 6% left for further use.

3. Starlink Modem

Fully charged Ecoflow Delta 2

We were keen to see how long we could run the modem we used with Starlink, as currently, they are powered by 240v.

We have heard that many caravanners have been unaware of how much power the modem uses, some draining their batteries due to its current draw. The Starlink router, cords, and dish use 50-75 Watts when actively looking for and connecting to satellites. Starlink uses 20 Watts when connected to the internet with no network activity.

We charged the Delta 2 via 240v until it was fully charged and at 100% capacity. We ran Starlink from 10.30 am to 9.30 pm. In the constant 11 hours, Starlink used 64% of Delta’s battery.

4. Charging A Macbook Pro Laptop

I also tested the Delta2 by charging my laptop. I am writing this blog post while plugged in, and I can see that my MacBook is drawing between 120 and 139 Watts. The notification from my Mac tells me that it will take 1 hour and 20 minutes to charge from 30% to 100% fully.

I am using the laptop whilst it is charging so I will close my laptop and see how long it will take.

The laptop took an hour to charge, drawing just 20 watts. The battery started with only 27% and finished with the remaining 15%. So, the laptop only drew 12% of the Delta 2 battery.

Built To Last – Battery Cycle and Warranty

Ecoflow Delta2 review

Boasting an astonishing 3,000 battery cycles, the EcoFlow Delta 2 has a lifespan of up to a decade—six times the life of the industry standard.

This remarkable longevity is six times greater than the industry average of 500 cycles and is achieved through premium LFP batteries, the same kind that power Tesla vehicles.

The DELTA 2 sets itself apart with a unique 5-year warranty. It incorporates an advanced Battery Management System (BMS) that continually oversees voltage, current, and temperature, ensuring the power station operates safely.

EPS Mode

If there is an outage, you can have complete peace of mind that any valuable information you are working on on your laptop or computer isn’t lost. That’s because the Delta 2 has an auto switch and goes into EPS (emergency power supply).

1-3kWh Expandable Energy Storage

Unlike smaller battery banks, the Delta 2 can easily keep a refrigerator running, a hotplate burning, and your phone charging for extended periods. No more running out of power when you are off-grid. The Ecoflow Delta2 is the perfect backup around camp and home.

And if you need more power to stay off-grid longer, you can easily extend the power with an extra 2kWh with the Ecoflow Delta 2 extra battery. The Delta2 is also very handy around the home for extended outages during storm and fire seasons.
