Hello and welcome to All Around Oz – caravanning, camping, travelling and ‘Drone’ flying adventures in Australia! Want to know more about us? Then read on…..
I’m Melissa and my husband is Brenden and we are passionate about sharing our love of travel and Australia. In fact we have been travelling together for over 20 years.
All Around Oz is our way of inspiring everyone to see more of Australia and experience all the magic it has to offer.
After almost 15 years of living on the beautiful Gold Coast, we have just hit the road full time. Our plan is to travel slow and really experience Australia and all it has to offer.
Our earlier adventures have taken us west into outback Queensland and New South Wales, south into the Snowy Mountains region of New South Wales and north into Tropical Queensland.
In January 2019 we took part in a leg of the Dometic Winnebago Follow the Sun Relay which saw us explore the beautiful Barossa Valley and then follow the Murray River to Echuca, before breaking off and heading to Bendigo and Melbourne.
We know that sometimes ‘things happen’ when you are travelling, so we aim to offer as much advice as possible to help you through those rough patches.
We believe that honesty is the best policy so you can be assured that we will always ‘tell it like it is’.
I write the words and take most of the photos and generally do all the research and trip planning. This means I’m always on the lookout for new destinations. Those who know me well know that I don’t mind a chat or a wine and often combine the two together. I have always loved to write and I am passionate about being able to share our Aussie travel adventure stories.
My favourite place to date would have to be Ellis Beach just north of Cairns; it’s my idea of paradise. At the top of my must-visit list would be Craig’s Hut in the Victorian High Country.
Is the self-confessed ‘geek’ of the AAO team. In his spare time he indulges his passion for technology by flying Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA’S) or drones as they are more commonly known. He currently flies a DJI Phantom 3 Professional which gives him the ability to shoot 4K quality video. Brenden has accumulated more than 500 hours of flying experience. He holds a CASA Remote Operators Certificate (ReOC) which allows him to fly a drone for commercial purposes and also to instruct others to fly. You can read more on our RPA Operations HERE.
His favourite place that we have been so far is Longreach in outback Queensland and in particular the QANTAS Founders Museum. At the top of his must-visit list is Uluru.
I hope you enjoy travelling with us.
