All Around Oz Is Australia’s Number One Community For Caravan, Camping And Planning A Lap Of Australia

Annette and Kev All Around Oz

If you are a caravanner, camper or you are planning a lap of Australia and looking to experience true freedom and adventure, then you are in the right place.

That’s because All Around Oz is about bringing you the best up-to-date information about planning a lap of Australia, caravanning, camping and road-tripping around Australia from a couple currently on the road travelling full-time in a caravan.

Our mission is simple…

To provide relevant, updated information about planning a lap of Australia and travelling Australia full time in a caravan and camping. Plus, information about where to stay and things to do, exploring Australia town by town.

If this sounds good to you, then please let me introduce myself…

My name is Annette Jones, the owner of All Around Oz.

I loved camping as a child in tents and then as an adult in camper trailers, and between Kev and I, we’ve owned various 4x4s.

Once my partner Kevin and I decided to plan a lap of Australia, I started researching. I found information here, there, and everywhere scattered across the internet, including websites, Facebook pages, Facebook groups, and forums.

Most of the information was outdated or didn’t apply to planning a lap of Australia.

Or the articles were written by people who haven’t or aren’t currently travelling full time on the road. Or the information was only about the places to visit once you hit the road. It is great for dreaming, but nothing I read I found either practical or helpful. There wasn’t a site with all the information in one place.

That’s why I built a website (Lappers Australia) at the time and started planning a lap of Australia and writing about the products and gear I also researched the equipment we needed to build our rig and buy a caravan to travel full-time around Australia.

I started researching and comparing the products we needed. I found that there were no well-written guides on the topics I researched with unbiased opinions. That’s when I decided to write and share my findings. I thought if I was looking for answers, then surely people just like you were, too.

Turns out this was right. Within a few months, readers like you found my articles. That’s because the information is relevant. I was at the coalface researching the items we needed to build our rig, buy a caravan, and plan a lap of Australia.

Then this happened…

I Loved The Community So Much I Bought The All Around Oz Website!

A blogging friend of mine, Melissa, contacted me and offered me the opportunity to become All Around Oz’s new owner. It fits what I had set out to do perfectly, plus the All Around Oz website was well-established with relevant information, so I accepted the offer.

Since then, I’ve added the information from Lappers Australia to the All Around Oz website, which makes for one great website and community.  Plus, since we’ve hit the road, I also include information about the places we’ve visited and the things to see and do there.

As there are always new products on the market, I continue to review products that I know are useful to the All Around Oz community, and caravanners and campers.

Think portable power stations. Just a short time ago, they were non-existent. Now, companies are flooding the market with their new models.

Annette and Kev All Around Oz

Kev calls me the wordsmith but I don’t know about that. For someone who flunked English (and Year 10!), it’s a huge compliment. It’s my love of travel and sharing our adventures and information we’ve found that makes writing a joy for me.

I’m always on the lookout for new adventures, destinations and experiences. Those who know me well know that I love travelling, food, cooking, and meeting new friends, don’t mind a chat or a wine and all the better if all six are combined!

My favourite place in Oz to visit so far is North Queensland. I’ve lived in Mackay, and both my sons were born there. I am really looking forward to visiting the top end and going back to Tassie, this time with a van in tow!

Kevin

Kev has always had a passion for business and the stock market. Even on the road, he’ll be watching the markets and making a few currency trades at the start and end of each day.

He dislikes technology immensely and really doesn’t get what Annette does. So he’s the support member of the AAO team, taking photos, and waiting patiently while Annette takes a pic, a video or writes notes.

His favourite place (so far) travelling Australia, is the top end. He’s looking forward to many nights around the campfire, meeting new people on our travels and having new adventures.

What Happened To Melissa and Brenden?

If you have been an avid reader of All Around Oz for many years, then Melissa and Brenden need no introduction.

Mel and I have been blogging friends for many years, so I know the hard work, time and effort that both she and Brenden have poured into All Around Oz.

However, Mel has decided to kick back and enjoy the journey on the road. Brenden is looking forward to spending more time watching the stars in front of a campfire.

They are still passionate about sharing their love of travel and Australia; you can catch them on their new Insta account here.

Now the baton has been passed to us, we will certainly look after All Around Oz, adding fresh content to help you on your caravan and camping adventures around Australia.

I hope you enjoy travelling with us.

  1. Thank you so much for supporting the great country pubs in our wide brown land, and for mentioning Country Pub Camping.
We now have almost 56,000 members and love injecting dollars into communities, while enjoying the hospitality of our outback hotels.
i enjoy perusing your site – Jackie Bee

  3. Hi, first thanks for popping by my blog and following it. We have travelled around a large part of Australa over the years. The travel has involved caravans, motor homes, hotels, flights, long distance trains, ferries ,ships we even rode the aqua duck in Surfers Paradise haha. I thought it important to take our kids round the wonderful place our Australian home has to offer.our kids didn’t travel OS. Until they were adults and I was always amazed by the people who had seen more of the rest of the world yet never ventured into their wn country. I look forward to following your trips 🙂

    • Thanks Travelling Macs….wish we had cottoned on to this travel thing earlier. Our kids have been on our trips with us but now as they reach the ‘pointy’ end of their schooling the opportunities to go away for longer trips are getting fewer and fewer but hopefully we have instilled a love of travelling in them and they will continue to travel once they reach adult hood. Best wishes Mel 🙂

  4. Dear Melissa,

Well it was with pleasure that I found and read your site. We have just purchased a customline camper trailer, second hand 2010 model. We have not used it yet as we are in the process of getting a Prado to tow it. We have always had a tent when our children were small and now they have flown the coup we are going to try it with the camper trailer. All our research pointed us to the customline as well.

We really enjoyed reading your experiences from the very beginning and how and what you did to fit up your camper, pictures were great too. So it has given us a few good ideas and pointers. We are reading about your experiences at different places which have given us ideas about where to go.

It must take you a bit of time to do all this. I just wanted you to know how enjoyable it was and is for us. Very well written, practical and informative. We are from Brisbane so all the places and conditions you speak of have value to us.

Thank you once again and I hope you have many more camping trips and that we will be able to read about them also.

    Kind regards
    Merryl and Trevor
