Layering works far better than piling on bulk.
We use a doona as our base rather than traditional blankets, then add a lightweight throw over the top when needed. It’s an easy way to adjust as temperatures change without constantly swapping bedding.
A throw is one of the most practical pieces you can pack. It’s easy to add or remove, dries quickly, and can double as something to sit on outside. It also adds a bit of warmth while making the van feel more put together.

One main set and one spare is enough for most lappers. After 3 years on the road, we only carry one set. I wash, dry and put them straight back on the bed.
