Mount Tamborine is a great choice for hikers, offering multiple hiking trails that take you through rainforests and past waterfalls. With stunning views of the Gold Coast Hinterland, it is easy to see why Mount Tamborine is such a popular choice.
If you are looking for a more coastal experience, Burleigh Hill or Currumbin Rock make great options. Located right on the Gold Coast coastline, these lookouts offer spectacular views of the ocean and the Gold Coast’s famous beaches.

1. Surfers Paradise Lookout – Skypoint Observation Deck
The iconic Q1 building has the best view of the coast in Surfers Paradise. It is easily accessible via the local tram with a station out the front of the building and entry to the Skypoint Observation Deck.
Take the express elevator right to the 77th level and step out into the stunning 360-degree views of the Gold Coast. You’ll see as far south down to Coolangatta and beyond and on a clear day as far as Brisbane to the north.
SkyPoint Observation Deck is your one-stop shop for all things Gold Coast! Located at 230 meters above sea level, this unique perspective lets you take in the entire city from a vantage point that can’t be beaten.

Not just an observation deck. You can also conquer Australia’s highest external climb, starting on level 77 at Sky Point Observation Deck. Follow a Climb guide and walk up towards the eagle’s nest located 270 meters above the ground! Stop for amazing 360-degree views including golden beaches with city skylines as well lush green hinterlands all around you.

2. Tumgun Lookout Burleigh Heads Qld
Tumgun Lookout is another Gold Coast standout. Nestled into the hinterland near Burleigh Heads, this lookout offers stunning views of the Gold Coast’s famous beaches and coastline.
With multiple hiking trails leading to the top, Tumgun Lookout is perfect for those looking for a bit of an adventure with their view. You can access the lookout from either Burleigh Point or the Tallebudgera Creek bridge.
It is shady for most of the walk through the National Park and more open on the ocean side. You’ll experience stunning views of the coast both north and south.
There are lots of birds and other wildlife along the tracks and if you are lucky you might see a koala and whales during whale season between June and October.
This walk is suitable for the whole family walk, but not suitable for strollers. You will also have to leave your four-legged friend at home as domestic animals are not permitted in National Parks.

3. The Panorama Lookout Gold Coast
The panorama Tallai lookout Gold Coast is another must-visit Gold Coast lookout. Located just a short drive off the Gold Coast Highway, this picturesque spot offers sweeping views of the Gold Coast coastline and lush Gold Coast Hinterland landscape.
With multiple hiking trails leading to the top, Panorama Lookout is perfect for those looking for a bit of an adventure with their view. You can access the lookout from Gold Coast’s Tallai estate, or by parking at the Eastern Boat Ramp and walking in along one of the more easily accessible trails.
Ascending to about 200 meters above sea level, Panorama Lookout offers some of the best views of both Gold Coast beaches. With plenty of spots to pull off the trail and enjoy your surroundings in peace, Panorama Lookout is perfect for spending an afternoon exploring Gold Coast’s natural beauty.
You’ll have to have a fair level of fitness as getting to the lookout is quite steep in places.
4. Currumbin Rock Pools
If you’re looking for a Gold Coast lookout with a bit of extra oomph, look no further than the Currumbin Rock Pools. Located in Gold Coast’s Currumbin Valley, these stunning rock pools offer stunning views of the Gold Coast from an elevated position.
Not officially a lookout as such, however, the drive to one of Gold Coast’s most popular swimming spots, the Currumbin Rock Pools offer a unique Gold Coast experience. With crystal clear blue water and lush green surroundings, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to another world as you swim amongst the rocks high above Gold Coast
The best way to get to the Currumbin Rock Pools is via Gold Coast’s Currumbin Creek Road. You’ll have to park your car and walk about 15 minutes through Gold Coast National Park, but the views along the way will make it worth it.
If you’re looking for a Gold Coast experience that combines stunning natural beauty with plenty of adventure, then the Currumbin Rock Pools are perfect for you. Make sure you get there early tho (around 8.30 am) in the high seasons as by 10 am it will be fairly busy.
5. Mick Schamburg Park Lookout
Mick Schamburg Park is located in one of the southern suburbs of the Gold Coast, Miami. Mick Schamburg Park is a local Gold Coast favourite, with plenty of hiking trails and scenic waterfront views.
Located right on Gold Coast’s Broadwater Bay, this Gold Coast lookout is perfect for spending an afternoon soaking in the Gold Coast sunshine. With plenty of picnic areas to enjoy a meal or just soak up some rays, Mick Schamburg Park is the ultimate Gold Coast destination for anyone who loves spending time outdoors.
Whether you’re hiking, kayaking, or just enjoying a stroll along Gold Coast’s waterfront boardwalk, there’s always something to see and do at Mick Schamburg Park.
6. Elephant Rock
If you’re looking for a Gold Coast lookout that offers sweeping views of the Gold Coast’s skyline, look no further than Elephant Rock. Located on Gold Coast’s Currumbin Beach, this iconic rock formation is easily one of the most visited Gold Coast landmarks and a must-visit Gold Coast lookout
Easily accessed from a hidden staircase at the back of the surf club the short steep stairs lead to a fantastic view south to Tweed and north to Burleigh and beyond.
The annual Anzac Day Dawn Service at Elephant Rock is a major event that draws visitors from all around to pay their respects. The viewpoint on top of this natural landmark affords 180-degree views along the coastlines, which have been an installations site for featured artwork during Swell Sculpture Festival in September every year since its inception decades ago!
7. Kirra Hill Lookout
Kirra Hill lookout is a great spot to get an overlook of both Kirra Beach and Coolangatta coastline. One side has breathtaking views, while the other provides ample seating with BBQ facilities if you want a picnic. Plus there is a hot water boiler on tap for tea or coffee.
A small steep walk up leads you to access this iconic spot overlooking one of Australia’s most beautiful beaches – Kirra Beach.
You can also drive up, parking is free. There are no toilets.
8. Rainbow Bay Lookout
The north-facing view is breathtaking. The Goldcoast CBD is visible in the distance, almost to The Spit.
Approximately 20 cars can park within 30 metres of the viewing platform. The walk up to the viewing platform is very steep. It would be quite a challenge to push a wheelchair up for example.
You can climb down the rocks to your right and reach the beach. With its cleanliness, lack of litter and good surfing conditions, the Beach is a great spot to visit. Although, it can get crowded at times.
September is jellyfish season so keep a lookout for them if you are visiting then. Like most of the Gold Coast coastline, it is a great place to whale watch.
Heading to witness a sunset? Make sure you get there approximately an hour earlier to snag the best seat in the house. The best sunsets are the ones where you get to see a pod of dolphins swimming around and enjoying the waves – if you are lucky enough!
9. Point Danger
From this spot, you have a gorgeous view of the sea and an uninterrupted 180° view of the coastline. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy the ocean views, there are plenty of grassy areas where you can picnic and watch the dolphins, whales, and surfers.
You could also take a walk down to the beach and have a swim. Parking is available behind the lighthouse, and both food and coffee are offered there. The parking can get crowded, so arrive early to ensure you find a spot.
If you don’t have a throw rug with you there are quite a few tables and chairs where you can sit. There is a lot of history to read about the various shipwrecks in the area too.
Stunning views of Snapper Rocks and Duranbah Beach and the Seawall. It’s the perfect spot for a pic when there’s a full moon where you can witness your own staircase to the moon on the eastern side of Australia.

Mount Tamborine Lookouts
Located in Gold Coast Hinterland, Mount Tamborine offers some of the best vistas on the Gold Coast. At its peak, you can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding forests and rolling hills as well as glimpses of Gold Coast’s stunning coastline in the distance.
Several lookouts and hiking trails can be accessed from Mount Tamborine, including the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk. Whether you’re looking for a challenging hike with breathtaking views or a relaxing stroll through nature, Mount Tamborine has something for everyone.
10. Hang Glider Launch and Lookout
Leave the coast of the Gold Coast behind and take the short drive up to Mt Tamborine. Depending on where you are staying on the coast, the drive will take around 45 minutes.
Where the Gliders launch is just along the roadside at 294 Main Western Road, Mt Tamborine. You’ll find plenty of parking on both sides of the roads, just take care crossing the road as it can get pretty busy.
Depending on the time of day and the season you visit you may want to take a jumper or jacket as it can be pretty windy.
The view is stunning and it’s an awesome spot to watch the sunrise or set.
While you are on the mountain, be sure to check out the many shops along The Gallery Walk with local produce and homewares. There are also cafes and restaurants so you can grab some lunch too.
11. Best Of All Lookout Gold Coast
Located atop Gold Coast’s rolling hills at Springbrook, Best Of All Lookout is one of the premier Gold Coast lookouts. Offering sweeping views of Gold Coast’s pristine beaches and lush forests, this lookout is perfect for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
You will find the Best Of All Lookout at the end of Repeater Station Road. Parking is limited, especially on the weekends and in the high season. You’ll also find an information centre just before Repeater Station Road on the left-hand side.
When you take the short 5-10 minute walk in you’ll also be rewarded with fantastic views of the Tweed Valley. Views to Byron Bay, The Cougals and Mt Warning.
Keep your eye out for the beautiful birdlife and the Antarctic Beach Trees they are the most easily accessible in SE Queensland.
