Coming Home After Travelling has to be the worst feeling ever. Not only do you feel a bit deflated that your holiday is over, but you also have the unpacking, washing and cleaning to contend with.
Sometimes I think this is more stressful than getting organised to go away in the first place!
Unless you are lucky enough to be able to travel full time, most of us have jobs and family responsibilities to come home to. It can really be a challenge trying to get back into routine after you get home. So I thought I would share with you my top tips to help make your return to home and your daily routines as smooth as possible.
COME HOME EARLY
If possible try and come home at least a couple of days before you are due back at work or the kids are due back at school. This will give you a chance to unpack, wash and grocery shop. This will also give you and the kids a chance to catch up on any sleep that you may have missed out on whilst you were away.
KEEP ON TOP OF THE WASHING
If you are able to, do a bit of washing whilst you are away. This just helps take the pressure off you a little bit when you do arrive home. If you haven’t been able to wash get a load on as soon as you can after arriving home. Then you can get on with other jobs.
COME HOME TO A CLEAN HOUSE
Before you even go away, try and give your house a good clean and have the washing up to date. Especially school and work clothes. I absolutely hate having to come home and deal with cleaning and washing that was already there. Make sure before you go you clean your fridge out. There is nothing worse than coming home to a nasty smell in there.
RE-PACK IMMEDIATELY
If like me you have a supply of stuff that you keep just for your camper or

CLEANING UP
Clean out your car and trailer or van. If you have a tent or camper trailer that you suspect may have been damp when it was last packed up, you need to set it up and let it dry out as soon as possible to prevent the likelihood of mould forming. I cannot stress how important this is as if your canvas becomes mouldy, it can eventually cause it to rot. We leave the bed made up so I always wash the sheets and doona cover and then remake the bed at the same time.

ALLOCATE JOBS
Try and allocate jobs to everyone in your family. Even younger kids can help by putting their toys away. If everyone pitches in the jobs will get done quickly and you can sit down and have a post holiday beer or wine!
Hopefully these tips for Coming Home After Travelling will help you get back into the swing of daily life. They might even help you to be a bit more organised when it’s time to take off again!
