Farewell to our Camper Trailer

September 25, 2017 By Melissa 2 Comments

Brenden and I are both feeling a little sad today as we say a fond farewell to our camper trailer. Yes, after six years of the most awesome adventures our beautiful Customline Camper Trailer is heading off to make another family happy.

As many of you would know we have big plans to travel Australia indefinitely and we couldn’t see ourselves being able to do that long term in our camper trailer. So we are getting ready to upgrade to a caravan.

We bought our camper trailer in 2011 and fitted it out to suit the kind of trips we had in mind. We did a few short trips with it first. It wasn’t long before I decided to start writing about our adventures.

There is no doubt that we will miss our camper more than just a little. It really was the best purchase we have ever made for our family.

OUTBACK QUEENSLAND

Our first big trip was into Outback Queensland. We visited Roma, Charleville, Longreach and Richmond before heading back to the Coast and making our way south. Our kids had the most amazing time. Both being plane mad they loved the QANTAS Founders Museum.

I don’t think any of us had any idea at that time just how big the state of Queensland is, let alone Australia!

Our first big trip in our camper trailer was to Longreach where we got to do this!

WEEKEND ESCAPES

The thing we really loved about our camper trailer was that it was always set up and ready to go. We just needed to add food and drinks. With so many great places within an hour or two’s drive from the Gold Coast we had some awesome weekends and long weekends away. High on my list of favourite spots would have to be Cobb and Co Nine Mile, The Gorge, Brunswick Heads and Fingal Head.

Brenden and the kids loved Bigriggen. It was such a quiet, peaceful campground.

Bigriggen was spacious and peaceful.

RAINBOW BEACH

Rainbow Beach was our very first spot we went with the camper. We loved it so much we went back a couple more times. Every time we went there we got hit by a cracker of a storm but we didn’t let that deter us. We always camped at Carlo Point because we could have a campfire there and if you don’t need power you can pick your own spot. Carlo Sand Blow is always a highlight of any visit there.

One of our favourite spots has always been Rainbow Beach.

SNOWY MOUNTAINS

Possibly my most favourite trip of all was our trip through the Snowy Mountains region of NSW. We went in summer time and it was just amazing. Riding the chairlift to Eagles Nest at Thredbo and swimming in the thermal pool at Yarrangobilly Caves were definite highlights.

Swimming in the thermal pool at Yarrangobilly Caves was awesome.

LAST TRIP

We didn’t know it at the time but our last trip in the camper trailer was in May when we visited Narrabri, Coonamble and Coonabarabran. We had a fantastic time and discovered Yarrie Lake just outside of Narrabri as well as Nakadoo Farm Stay just near Coonamble. Places that we will definitely return to.

NEW OWNERS

The above is only a very short summary of where we have been and what we have done in the last six years. We hope the new owners of our camper trailer have as many great adventures as we have and we wish them all the best for their future travels. Maybe we’ll see them on the road somewhere one day.

Wishing the new owners lots of awesome adventures.

    Thank you Brenden and Melissa,
We have already had a few fantastic experiences with our camper. We love it. Our son and his wife have also taken their three children for a brief holiday in it. Fantastic purchase.
