Well here we are at the end of another month and another year as well. As you will see when you get to our expense report, we had another good month with our income exceeding our expenditure.
Brenden officially finished work on the 18th December. We did have a farm sit lined up for over Christmas but unfortunately, good old Covid ruined the families plans. So we decided to head to Cowra to spend Christmas with our family.
TAKING OUR TIME
We decided that we would take our time getting to Cowra so we headed across to Condobolin and spent a couple of nights camped at Gum Bend Lake. This is an awesome man-made lake that is very popular with the locals for water skiing, but is also the perfect spot to camp for a few days.
We were one of three campers there so we were easily able to find a spot. The ground is a little uneven in places but we were able to find a level spot to set up. Gum Bend Lake has showers and toilets available as well as picnic tables and BBQ’s. The amenities are old and a little dated but were reasonably clean. The council are doing some upgrades to the surrounds – new picnic areas, footpaths, trees, so maybe the amenities will be a future project.
After leaving Condobolin we head across to Forbes. We stopped in at another free camp along the way – Jemalong Weir. After a quick lunch we kept going onto Forbes for a look around. We also stopped at the Amazing and Varanus sculptures because they are just so good!
We have visited this lovely little town a few times so we thought this time we would spend the night at the Donation Camp at the old Railway Station. This area is a real credit to Grenfell. The toilets and shower were immaculately clean. A shower is $2.00 for 5 minutes. There are also two very clean BBQ’s in a covered picnic area and a small childrens play area.
Plus it is just a short walk to the main street. Here you have your choice of four pubs, a couple of coffee shops and an IGA.
Plus of course Grenfell has the gorgeous silos which we just love.
