All Around Oz were gifted our Brickman Experience Tickets.
The Brickman Experience has arrived on the Gold Coast. This fantastic display of Lego® creations is the brainchild of Ryan McNaught. Ryan is the only Certified Lego® Professional in the Southern Hemisphere and is known by all as The Brickman.
It is being held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from June 24th, 2017 to 9th July, 2017. Just in time for the Queensland School Holidays.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
The Brickman Experience features over 60 exhibits and I can tell you from the grins on Brenden and Ben’s faces that it’s not just for little kids. Ben and I had visited the Wonders of the World Exhibition in Brisbane last year so we knew that the Brickman Experience was going to be awesome as well.
The exhibits are often fun and quirky! Take for example the model of a Jet Star plane – the passengers are all characters from Star Wars! So much fun!
The best thing about going to a Brickman exhibit is that there is Lego® everywhere that you can create things with. The boys (and I) couldn’t resist getting in on the action.
SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE
At the Wonders of the World Exhibition I commented that I would have loved to have seen the Sydney Opera House made out of Lego®. So I was very excited to see this cut-away model. Ryan McNaught is famous for making cut away models. Meaning that he makes models that show both the outside of something and the inside. I have been to the Sydney Opera House many times and this model really does this fantastic building proud.
It took a total of 38 working days to construct and contains 75,000 pieces.
In this exhibition there were lots of smaller scale models, but they were just as technically brilliant as the larger models. I could not even begin to imagine building something like these models. They are so lifelike – especially the pink donut! It looked good enough to eat!
ERICSON AIR CRANE
The Ericson Air Crane was definitely my favourite. We’ve all seen footage of these monster aircraft in action fighting our bushfires. The detail in this piece was astonishing. It stood at least a metre tall and was about two metres long.
Tickets for the Lego® Brickman Experience are available from the Box Office inside the Convention Centre or on line from Ticketek.
Ticket prices start at $21.00 with discounts for family passes available.
