If you have teenage kids like we do then you probably know that it can sometimes be hard to find things for them to do when on holidays. But we have found the perfect solution for holiday boredom right here on the Gold Coast. A new attraction called Holoverse. In fact we had so much fun there that we would recommend it for adults as well.
So what is Holoverse you ask? Holoverse is a brand new concept that combines hologram technology with gaming technology to create a totally unique experience. It is the first place where you can actually interact with holograms by walking through them or collecting objects from them.
There are two different scenarios that you can become completely immersed in. The first one is called Experiences Part 1 and there are 10 different scenarios for you to experience. The second scenario is called False Eden and is more of a gaming experience where you get to fight against holographic creatures. As time goes by, there will be more parts to both stories.
The effects are amazing and quite realistic. From being surrounded by creatures, to stepping over and through walls to falling down holes in the ground. And yes you do actually feel like you are falling!
In False Eden you have weapons available to use which appear at the end of your wand. You can spike apples and eat them or fight dragons and other mythical creatures. This scenario is scored so you can try to beat the highest score which currently stands at 337. Ben was closest with a score of 210.
When Holoverse is fully operational there will be more than 40 rooms available with any of the scenarios available at any time. Each room is for one person to experience the scenario. To complete both scenarios including a briefing takes about 70 minutes.
OUR THOUGHTS
Ben says:-
“The seemingly effortless transitions were amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Both sessions were extremely fun and kept a smile on my face. False Eden is perfect for any ‘gamers’. Sword combat was fun and the story was interesting. All round a great experience especially for gamers but is great for anybody.”
Brenden says:-
“When a giant shell lands in front of you that you can walk around and then crawl into and look up and see the roof of the shell above you. Amazing technology. Or to be able to fly through the air with full control over where you fly just by looking up or down.”
Mel says:-
“I actually felt like I was falling when I stepped through the hole in the ground and when you walk through the wall you can see the wall disappearing around your face. Very cool!
LOCATION AND COST
Holoverse is located at 59 Nerang Street, Southport. There is plenty of free parking available in the Officeworks carpark. Or if you are staying in Surfers Paradise the easiest way to get to Holoverse would be to catch ‘The G’ (light rail) and get off at Southport Station and then walk up the street to Holoverse.
One session will cost you $25.00 or you can do both for $40.00. For more information or to book online visit Holoverse’s website.

Wow! I didn’t know this attraction even existed! I have to get out more. I can imagine kids and even big kids would love this. Thanks for the overview.
It’s only be open a short time. Fascinating concept!
Things have changed since I used to go and play Pac-man at the local cafe! Looks like fun.
Haven’t they! This was really cool technology!
