We love the fact that from the Gold Coast you can be in the beautiful city of Brisbane in about 45 minutes. We usually catch the train up as it saves the hassle and expense of finding parking. There is so much to do around the Southbank Precinct including the Museum, Science Centre and Art Gallery. There is a fully patrolled ‘beach’ at Southbank. You can cool off or there are plenty of spots to grab a bite to eat. A bicycle and walking track runs right along the edge of the Brisbane River. You can walk and take in the views or find a nice shady spot to relax. A short stroll across the river you are in Brisbane’s CBD with loads of shops and more places to eat.
SUN SAFETY FOR TRAVELLERS
If you live in Australia and love the great outdoors then chances are that at some time in your life you have copped a good dose of sunburn. Unfortunately this can lead to skin cancers developing. As I have had a couple of suspect spots removed I am trying to become more sun-safe. This is especially important when travelling. You can read this post I wrote with my best tips in it.
ART CRAFT AND FARMERS MARKETS
No matter where you travel in Australia you will be bound to find a market of some sort. If you are on a tight budget Farmers Markets can be an in-expensive place to purchase fresh, local produce. Or if you are searching for a unique gift for someone back home there are some truly talented people who sell their wares at local craft markets. Plus there is always a wonderful array of yummy food available!
TWEED COAST, NSW
The Tweed Coast area of northern NSW is a really gorgeous part of the world. Offering some of the best beaches around along with absolutely stunning coastal views. Add into the mix some of the best National Parks you will find and you will never tire of visiting this area. Just a short drive from our home on the Gold Coast if where are ever stuck for somewhere to go for a weekend away of a day trip we know we’ll find a little bit of magic here.
Without a doubt one of the best and most relaxing holidays we’ve ever had was cruising down the Murray River on a houseboat. We were up early everyday to swim and water ski before cruising slowly along in the heat of the day. Once it started to cool down we would find a good spot to tie up for the night and then swim and ski until it was almost dark. A few beers and a BBQ dinner all added to heaven!
