Sanctuary Cove Boat Show, 2014 – REVIEW

May 26, 2014 By Melissa Leave a Comment

On Sunday we spent the day at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show.  Now in it’s 26th year, the show is held on the second last weekend in May. It draws massive crowds of spectators and exhibitors from all over Australia and the world.

The show is held in the Sanctuary Cove Marine Village precinct and this really is the ideal location for such a show. Located just 20 minutes from Surfers Paradise, Sanctuary Cove was established in 1986 as a master-planned community. Situated right on the Coomera River it has four man-made harbours which offer direct access to the Broadwater and also the Pacific Ocean.

There are hundreds of boats ready for your inspection at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show.

SANCTUARY COVE MARINE VILLAGE

The Marine Village itself is a mix of trendy boutique style shops and up-market restaurants and cafes, most with spectacular views of the marina and harbour. If you want to stay nearby, the Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove Resort is just a short stroll from the marine village and provides luxury 5-star accommodation.  If you like a game of golf,  there is also the world-class Sanctuary Cove Golf Club right at your doorstep.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

There is something for every buyer at the boat show from jet ski’s, to fishing tinnies to multi million dollar ocean going cruisers.  Many of these boats are open for inspection and you can spend a few moments dreaming about how the ‘other half’ live.

Comfy leather sofas add a touch of luxury to this cruiser.

If you would prefer a new car you can buy one of those too! Maybe a Bentley or a Maserati might be more your style. If that’s the case, a convertible  Bentley will only set you back a shade over $515,000!

If boats aren’t your thing, there is plenty of other things to do, including cooking demonstrations.  I enjoyed watching local contestants Paul and Blair from the 2014 season of My Kitchen Rules cooking up a storm. They were ably assisted by Creek to Coast host Dean Miller.

There is always plenty to see and do at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. It really is worth spending at least a day there. The weather on the Gold Coast at this time of year is as near to perfect as you can get.  The next show will be held from 24th to 27th May, 2018.
