Today we spent the day at the Brisbane Caravan and Camping Show. This is a huge show held at the RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane every year at the start of June. It has been a couple of years since we have been up to it and thought as we both had the day off we would go and see what was around.
A PLACE FOR RESEARCH
For anyone who is thinking of getting into camping, caravanning or travelling a show like this is an excellent starting point in researching what you are going to buy. There is always so much to look at. The best thing is you can actually look inside most things and really see what each manufacturer has to offer. There are also hundreds of stands selling and displaying everything from 4WD recovery gear to cooking pots, chairs, canoes, lights, road maps, books and much, much more.
As much as we love our camper trailer we know that we won’t own it forever. As we get older and the kids grow up we will move onto a caravan. It was great to be able to look at a few and get an idea of what we might like in the future.
After today we are sure we would like a full-off road van. It has to have a queen size bed as Brenden is 6’4″ tall. We would also like bench seats so as we can sit sideways and watch telly with our legs stretched out.
Some vans that we looked at that we were impressed with were:-
- Lotus Vans
- Spinifex Off-Road Caravans
- Elite Caravan’s
and these three cover a fairly wide price range as well – from about $50,000 through to about $97,000.
But for the time being, we are more than happy with our camper trailer.
