One of our favourite spots to head to for a weekend or a short break is Fingal Head. One of our main reasons for choosing a Camper Trailer over a tent is the fact that you can leave a trailer packed and then it is ready to go anytime you like. All you have to do is pack a few clothes, some food, hitch it up and away you go. Living on the Gold Coast there are so many great weekend destinations that you can reach within an hour or two’s drive. This makes it so easy to escape for a weekend.
Fingal Head is located just over the NSW border on the Tweed Coast. We stayed at the Fingal Head Caravan Park which is located right on Fingal Head Beach. There are 6 waterfront tent sites available with the end one being the largest. There are also plenty of van sites as well as cabins and villas.
There is another large camp area at the rear of the park which is used as an overflow area in peak times. There are two large and very clean amenities blocks. The park also has barbecue areas with one right near the waterfront sites.
We were all set up and had breakfast cooked by 11am so the rest of the day was spent relaxing, walking on the beach and relaxing! The kids and I did walk up to the Headland which has stunning views of the surrounding coastline. The walk took about 20 minutes and is mainly an easy level walk with a few steps involved. There is a lovely, but small light house there which dates back to the late 1800’s.
The other upside of our weekend was we met some lovely people who were camped next to us. We enjoyed talking about places they had travelled to over a glass (or two) of red wine. This is a great way to make new friends and also get some ideas for future trips.
